Defibrillator installed at Edwyn Ralph Village Hall

On Monday 26 June 2023, a new defibrillator was installed on the outside wall of Edwyn Ralph Village Hall. The equipment was purchased thanks to the generous support and donations of local residents and businesses.

The Parish Council would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed towards this vital community asset.

Defibrillator installed at St Mary’s Church, Collington

The Parish Council has also installed a defibrillator in Collington. The unit is located in a bright yellow cabinet on the roadside wall of St Mary’s Church.

The cabinet was purchased and installed following kind donations from parish residents in 2023. We are very grateful for the community’s continued support in helping to make this lifesaving equipment accessible to all.

Thornbury’s Famous Landmark

Like many traditional red telephone boxes, Thornbury’s iconic kiosk is no longer maintained by BT due to the widespread use of mobile phones. Recognising the affection held by local communities for these historic landmarks, BT offered them for adoption, and on 2 June 2010 Thornbury Group Parish Council took ownership of the kiosk.

Thanks to the efforts of several residents, the kiosk was repainted and has since been transformed into a small community library. Residents and visitors are warmly invited to browse, borrow a book, and, once finished, leave it for others to enjoy.

Councillors

A parish council is a local authority that makes decisions on behalf of the people in the parish.  It is the level government closest to the community, with the county authority above it in the hierarchy. As it is the authority closest to the people, parish councils are invariably the first place people will go with concerns or ideas.  For this reason they are a vital part of any community.

Thornbury Group Parish Council is comprised of Thornbury, Collington and Edwyn Ralph. There are a total of 9 seats on the Council which are made up of 3 from Thornbury, 2 from Collington and 4 from Edwyn Ralph.
