Defibrillator installed at Edwyn Ralph Village Hall

On Monday 26th June, 2023, a new defibrillator was installed on the wall outside the village hall in Edwyn Ralph. This machine was purchased with the help of generous donations from the local community. The Parish Council would like to thank local residents and businesses that donated towards the purchase of this vital piece of equipment.
Any additional funds received, will be used towards the maintenance of the machine and purchase of other equipment for Thornbury and Collington.

The Parish Council has installed a new defibrillator in Collington. This machine is housed in a bright yellow cabinet on the roadside wall of St Mary’s Church. The new cabinet was purchased and installed following kind donations received from members of the parish in 2023.

Thornbury’s Famous Landmark

As with many  famous ‘Red Phone Boxes’, it is no longer viable for BT to maintain them due to the widespread use of mobile phones. BT are very much aware of the huge fondness by local communities for the traditional red kiosk and therefore on 2nd June 2010 Thornbury Group Parish Council took ownership of the kiosk. Thanks to a number of residents the kiosk was painted and it is now used as a ‘mini’ library. Please feel free to browse and take a book and likewise if you have finished reading please leave your books for someone else to enjoy.

In 2016 the noticeboard for Thornbury had deteriorated and due to the very kind generosity of Mr Colin Haywood, he made and installed a new board for everyone to use. Our sincere thanks from the Parish Council for this very kind gesture.

Councillors

A parish council is a local authority that makes decisions on behalf of the people in the parish.  It is the level government closest to the community, with the county authority above it in the hierarchy. As it is the authority closest to the people, parish councils are invariably the first place people will go with concerns or ideas.  For this reason they are a vital part of any community.

Thornbury Group Parish Council is comprised of Thornbury, Collington and Edwyn Ralph. There are a total of 9 seats on the Council which are made up of 3 from Thornbury, 2 from Collington and 4 from Edwyn Ralph.
